How MAXtap calculates recommendations

MAXtap compares the credit cards a user has added to their wallet and estimates the reward value each eligible card may earn for a particular merchant or spending category.

Merchant and category

MAXtap identifies the merchant or spending category associated with the purchase so the applicable reward categories can be evaluated.

Reward rates

The comparison considers available base reward rates and applicable bonus reward rates for the cards in the user's MAXtap wallet.

Card rules and spending caps

Where catalogue information is available, MAXtap considers relevant spending caps, category rules, and other conditions that may affect the estimated reward.

Estimated reward value

MAXtap compares the estimated cashback, points, miles, or other reward value across eligible cards and ranks the cards based on the estimated value for that purchase.

Information sources

MAXtap's card catalogue is based on publicly available credit card and issuer information. Credit card programs and terms can change, so users should verify current terms directly with their card issuer.

Important limitation

MAXtap recommendations and reward calculations are estimates and may not reflect every issuer rule, merchant classification, redemption value, promotion, or account-specific condition. MAXtap provides informational tools only and does not provide financial advice.
